Jamesa is a welcome addition to our team and comes with a strong background in working with adults as well as children. Jamesa currently works two days a week at our sister program through tcfmh.org where she works one day in the school setting and out day in a community outpatient setting. Her remaining three days she sees adult and adolescent patients. It was Jamesa's interest in working with the St. Sabina community that drew her to Guada Psych, as she explained, "I personally was drawn to the population with a mindset to give back to my community. I grew up in the area and although I have since moved away, I thought my life would be 'full circle' and meaningful to go back to my beginning and at least deposit what I've learned and experienced over the years. Jamesa enjoys working with young, middle age, and elderly adults, and her astute clinical presence makes her an asset to all of her patients.

Education and Training

Educational Background and Experiences

Jamesa earned her MA in therapy and counseling from Colombia college where her interest in dance and movement offered a foray into clinical psychology. Regarding how she chose to go into mental health, Jamesa said, "I knew I wanted to help people but had not yet explored what 'help' looked like.  I was able to identify a program that incorporated dance as movement therapy and counseling."  Jamesa has an upbeat, positive, and warm personality that her patients appreciate. She also has a strong background working in some of the toughest and most complex clinical presentations in Chicago, which makes her clinical skill set advanced and adaptable to many clinical populations.
