I opened Guada Psych Services to fill the gap in quality mental health care that is now available to all people. I am very lucky to have found wonderful people to work alongside in fulfilling this endeavor. I got into mental health because I have always had a strong interest in human behavior and relationships as well as language and social patterns, which are a great fit for the field of clinical psychology. More importantly, though, I have always had compassion for people and the circumstances surrounding their mental health. Guada Psych is a place where all people can come to receive top-notch care by highly skilled professionals who take a patient-centered approach. We offer therapy and diagnostic services in an outpatient setting and are available for individuals ages ten and up.
Education and Training
I earned my BA from Indiana University in beautiful Bloomington, IN. Intent on deepening my cultural understanding of people, I then spent an extended period working in Beijing, CN, as well as deepening my understanding of Latino/a culture. Upon returning to my home city of Chicago, IL, I entered five years of study and clinical practice at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I earned my doctoral degree. While on this journey, I learned to treat even the most serious mental health difficulties. I also figured out how to navigate the mental health system so that the best outcomes are obtained for all patients served at Guada Psych. With regards to theoretical orientation, I rely on my Psychodynamic roots to understand people, and I am skilled in a range of interventions.
Patients and Problems Treated
I love to work with angry/depressed and anxious adolescents as well as their family members, and I have extensive experience in this area. I also enjoy working with adolescent patients with trauma histories who have difficulty in their relationships and who struggle to find happiness on a regular basis. I work with a considerable number of teens who deal with anxiety, including social anxiety. I meet patients where they are at and evaluate their mental health needs to put together a treatment plan that will lead to positive health outcomes.
